The Maxie dolls were one of number of lines of dolls that were slightly taller and wider than the Barbie dolls. Few people seem to have noticed that, in the 60s, 70s and 80s, although three different companies--Hasbro, Ideal and Mego--made these larger fashion dolls, all the bodies were pretty much the same. In other words, if you have any of the following dolls, you should consider them cousins:
1. Ideal's Tammy, Tammy's mother and Misty.
2. Hasbro's Darcy, Jem and Maxie.
3. Mego's girl celebrity dolls: Princess Leia, Toni Tennille, Cher, Farrah Fawcett and Dorothy Hamill.
The same rule applies to the boy dolls for the above series.
Not to mention some of the other lesser-known Barbie competitors, such as Tressy and Mary Makeup.
