1976 Barbie and Francie paper dolls look like 'East Coast Old Money'

I suspect that whoever at Whitman drew the 1973 Quick Curl paper dolls also drew the 1976 #4392/7411 boxed Barbie and Francie paper dolls.  Note that this new Barbie looks a lot like this Skipper:

These dolls have very preppy clothes compared to the sportswear and peasant outfits of the years prior.  None of them are Mattel products.

Although not identified as such,
these are Quick Curl dolls.

Although they can't share clothes because of their poses,
Whitman tends to make Barbie and Francie the same height and bust size.

I tend to think of "preppy" as 1970 (Love Story)
and 1980 (The Official Preppy Handbook) and not 1976.
