Design-a-Doll are the weirdest Barbie and Skipper paper dolls ever made

The Design-a-Doll sets for Barbie and Skipper are overly large, clunky and not all that attractive.  But they make a good craft project for a young artist or aspiring clothing designer.

The Barbie box is #4328-20 and the date is 1979.  The Skipper box is #4329-21 and is dated 1982.  Even though the dates are three years apart, the dolls obviously are meant to be a set, as you can see when you place the two of them side by side.

All I have for the Barbie set is the doll, box lid and six sets of patterns.  For Skipper, I have much more:  the box top and bottom, doll, six sets of patterns, new and used drawing paper, and the outfits the original owner designed.  Each set also originally came with six colored pencils.

It took three years, but Skipper
finally got her own Design-A-Fashion set.

The possibilities for a dress design are endless!

The paper dolls are
SuperStar Barbie and SuperTeen Skipper.

Skipper models one of her dresses.

Barbie's patterns are Basics, Evening Wear, Mix N Match,
On Top of it All (coats and collars),
Rain or Shine and Sports Scene.

Skipper has six sets of drawing patterns,
but they are unnamed.

The original owner of the Design-a-Fashion Skipper
made quite a few outfits and pieces,
and didn't cut all of them out.
