SuperTeen Skipper was a very popular doll, as Mattel had her on the market for 1979, 1980 and 1981, and Whitman sold paper doll versions of her in 1980, 1981 and 1982. (For the 1982 version, read here: https://skippercollector.blogspot.com/2020/11/design-doll-are-weirdest-barbie-and.html)
The first Whitman SuperTeen paper doll was a folder with a beautiful drawing of Skipper on the front cover. It is stock number 1982-33. The doll wears her original tank top and shorts, and there is a separate outfit with her purple skirt. The other clothing is all Whitman design, and is very 1980 preppy looking.
SuperTeen Scott was sold in 1980 and there was a paper doll set of him and Skipper in a box dated 1981. Stock number is 7480C-21. These two dolls are of a heavier cardboard, and both he and Skipper have their own outfits. The actual Scott doll never had his own line of clothing and it would have been nice if some of the pictured outfits had been made for him. Both Skipper and Scott have their original outfits as part of the box set.
The two SuperTeen Skippers aren't quite mirror images of each other. |
Note that Scott is taller than Skipper. |
In an alternate universe, this is what my hair looks like! |
Skipper wore a helmet for skateboarding long before it ever became mandatory. |
Did you know that SuperTeen Skipper is almost the same as Growing Up Skipper, just with a hard plastic torso with breasts? |
The cover of the 1981 box is very energetic! |
Here are four of the 10 pages of SuperTeen Skipper and Scott outfits for 1981. |
