Jan & Dean tribute at surfing museum

Meg sent me this email a few hours ago, and I'm posting it everywhere I can think of. I had tears in my eyes by the time I was done reading this press release, because I was soooo excited to get this news. If you've read the home page of my blog, you've probably already surmised that the whole Deadman's Curve/Richard Hatch/Battlestar Galactica/Jan & Dean situation changed my life. Everything I cared about in popular culture was drastically changed in 1978 and 1979, because those four story lines blew me away.

Hi Mary,

Thought you may like to see this press release. They may have something on
their website.

I'll try to catch up with you during the week.

Meg

special Dean Torrence guest appearance, a Juke Box, decades of memorabilia
and the 1978 “Deadman’s Curve” movie playing on our new flat screen TV in
our “Surf City” Theater.

French Artist and avid surfer Céline Chat joins us for her presentation of
“Sharing Perspectives”. Céline travels here from Guadeloupe where she
created some of these beautiful works of art. Join her in celebrating a
sharing perspective that we all feel while surfing. This will be Céline's
first visit to California. Her work has been shown all over the world and
been part of many surf festivals. She was recently in the Mostra De Arte
Cultura Surf Festival as part of Alma Surf in Brazil and had a Gallery
showing in St Barts.
Angela Madsen will bring her stories of rowing across the Atlantic along
with her boat, Row of Life. Come hear her amazing stories from her two
months at sea. She broke records with her French rowing partner in their
tortuous and grueling race against other teams of rowing enthusiasts.
We invite you to join in the festivities and help us celebrate our New
Exhibits’ Grand Opening Event and 12 years of Surfin’ Sundays from dedicated
musicians who donate their precious time in support of the museum.
We have shade pop-ups but the chairs are limited, so we encourage you to
bring your own. Don’t forget to bring your hats and sunscreen the sun can
be brutal near the beach.
