A completely different type of paper doll was made by Colorforms. There are many types of playsets, not just dolls. The early dolls were a sturdy cardboard covered in the front with an enamel paper.
The clothing is a form of vinyl stickers that adhere to the enamel doll.
I know there were Colorforms Barbie dolls sold before 1970, but the Living Barbie version is the earliest one I have. The early Colorforms sets also included booklets.
