What I learned from the catalog listings

A marvelous website that a doll collector page writer told me about was https://christmas.musetechnical.com/

It's a listing with the pages pictures of dozens of Sears, Montgomery Ward and JC Penney catalogs.

I looked through the doll and toy sections of the Christmas catalogs from 1959 to 1999.  I chose those years because 1959 was the year the Barbie doll was introduced, and I stopped collecting new merchandise in 1999.  I am going to list for you which catalogs showed which Barbie and family dolls for which year.

Some years, if you did not have access to stores, you would have needed to get all three catalogs to get all the dolls in that year's line.  I did not know that Montgomery Ward sold the Mix and Match gift set for four years!

1959

None of the catalogs had Barbie dolls listed.

1960

Both Montgomery Ward and Sears had Barbie for sale.  MW sold the gift set Barbie Mix and Match.

1961

MW: Barbie, Ken, plus the Mix and Match gift set.  Sears just had Barbie.

1962

MW: Barbie, Ken, plus the Mix and Match gift set.  Sears sold Barbie and Ken.

1963

MW: Barbie, Ken, Midge, plus the Mix and Match gift set.  Sears had Barbie, Ken and Midge.

1964

JC Penney: Barbie, Ken, Skipper, Midge, Allan.  MW: Barbie, Ken, Midge, Skipper, Allan.  Sears: Barbie, Ken, Midge, Skipper, Allan.

1965
