Of course I had to add new Skipper clone/competitor items. Here are dolls by three different manufacturers.
Tyco Ariel and Arista

1993 Snow White Happily Ever After
List of Barbie dolls sold between 1959 and 1999. And other comments and complaints, some about dolls, some about anything else.

I've also updated or added to a number of the fashion doll clone/competitor items that I have listed on etsy. While I was researching this, I discovered that Mini-Mod dolls and clothes were made by both Edico and Shillman.
Marcie Mod and Missy Mod
1960s Shillman Maxi Mod
18 inch Mego Candi clothes
unidentified red corduroy suit
Forever Yours wedding dress
Spiegel Polly gift set
Maddie Mod
1970s 12-inch doll clothes
Ideal Tuesday and Dorothy
1970s Shillman clothing
I've been working the past two weeks on adding new merchandise to my etsy listings. I will start with the most important items, that is, of course, the ones for Barbie.
1960s Francie clothing
1970s Francie clothing
1970 Barbie Ruffles N Swirls
1970 Barbie Dreamy Blues
1972 gold and brocade clothing
1980 doll and clothing
1989 Sensations items
Edico had Missy Mod dolls in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Edico also had Mini Mod dolls and clothes in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Shillman had Mini Mod dolls and clothes. These were later in the 1970s and 1980s, so I am assuming that Shillman bought out Edico.

I don't know who made Betsy Teen but these are the early 1970s Maddie Mod clothing boxes, but the clothes are different.

The dozens of accessories for these dolls were always the same. No one has ever researched this, but I am assuming all these companies used the same manufacturing plant.
I have a new doll case to write about. I can't believe that it was back in 2015 that I did all those "case studies" (for want of a better term!).
My newest acquisition is the 1968 Francie and Casey single doll case. It's dated 1967 and shows a blonde Twist N Turn Francie in 1207 Floating In and a brunette Twist N Turn Casey in 1215 The Combo, both from 1968.
I don't own The Combo but I do own Floating In. Note that the picture on the case has the diagonal in the opposite direction as the actual dress. If you recall, I noticed that a lot of the clothing shown on the cases are flips of what the outfits really looked like.
I looked up this case in several locations, but it showed up only once on etsy. I am assuming it is rare.
I figure that the Francie on the case is probably cold or that the Casey on the case is sweating to death, because their outfits are for opposite seasons. |
I have placed three very different items for sale on etsy.
The first is a Ken outfit from 1994 still in its packaging. It is 10742 City Cowboy Fashion with Hat N Boots/Duded Up Western-Style with City Savvy. It features a black pleather jacket with matching cowboy hat and boots. I had purchased a set of three doll outfits on etsy, and I kept the Barbie and Kevin outfits, but am reselling the Ken outfit because I already had it.
Second is a promotional watch from the almost defunct Forest Fair Mall. It is a watch with a green vinyl strap and face with the original mall logo. I am assuming it is from 1988. Unfortunately, neither I nor the local jewelry store could figure out how to open it to replace the battery.
The last two items commemorate 9/11 that I am selling together. The first is a comic book called United by a company called Chaos on the Edge that was dated May 2002. It is about three superheroines rescuing people trapped in the World Trade Center Tower One. These women have impossible figures (how do they stand up straight with such huge boobs?) that not even Barbie could aspire to.
