pop bottles

Barbie's had soda/pop/cola to drink since the 1960s.  The same bottle was used in the 1960s and 1970s.  This was a skinny brown rounded bottle, the ones in the middle on the right.  The bottles were included in the 1974 Drink Pepsi Cola outfits for Barbie, Ken, Francie and Skipper.  The bottles of course look nothing like the clear swirly Pepsi bottles.  I did a little research and found that the closest looking bottle to these older Barbie ones was actually one for Fanta.

The very dark brown bottles on the top right were included with a number of Trendy Teen and other Arco outfits for Barbie, Ken and Skipper.  They seem to most closely resemble some Dr Pepper bottles.

The clear green Coca-Cola bottle isn't from a doll set.  My mother had it in one of her old scrapbooks.  It was a carnival game prize from the Aurora, Indiana, Farmers' Fair in 1952.  So if you ever find a similar bottle with some dolls, don't go crazy trying to identify which outfit it goes to--it doesn't go with anything!

The Barbie bottles are 1 inch tall, while the prize Coke bottle is 1 1/2 inches.

You will find yet another type of bottle for Barbie.  The various Barbie Dream House refrigerators came with jars and cans and bottles all of solid color plastic.  The bottles are smooth-sided and an orange color and sometimes have a paper label on them.  They seem to be patterned on smooth 7Up bottles.
